Four Tips For A Strong Au Pair Profile
Have you ever wondered what it takes to become an Au Pair abroad in the CAP Sisterhood?
CAP to the rescue!!
In this article, we’ll share some tips and tricks you can use to make host families sees your profile first!
Childcare References:

Make your profile stand out by having good childcare experience.
There are many ways to gain childcare experience like taking up babysitting jobs, volunteering at local kindergartens or day-care centres, coaching young sports teams or working as a tutor.
You need at least two up-to-date references for your application from people who are not related to you and who can confirm your childcare experience.
These references should be able to prove at least 200 hours of experience.
If you can gain experience with children under the age of two years, it will strengthen your profile a lot!
Driver’s License:

You need a driver’s license for most of our Au Pair programs, since you may be required to drive the kids to playdates, school, and extramural activities.
If you do not have a license yet, CHILL and know that you can still apply and get your license during the application process.
Swimming, Biking and Cooking Skills:

Why do you need to be able to bike?
No, you do not need to be the next Eddy Merckx to be accepted into the program.
In the Netherlands and Belgium, and all the European countries for that matter, your main mode of transport would most likely be a bike, or a bakfiets as it’s commonly known.
Did you know that this quirky word directly translates into ‘’box bike?’’
This bike will be used to transport anything from groceries to children and everything in between!
Swimming is a requirement because many host families have swimming pools or live near the beach.
The host family may ask you to supervise the kids while they are swimming.
You need to feel comfortable in the water, but we promise you they won’t expect you to pull funny ninja tricks in the water.
You will have to cook from time to time for the host family (and daily for the host kids), so it is wise to learn a few recipes before going abroad.
All you need to improve this skill is to keep an open mind and practise a few basic recipes.
If you are committed to improving these skills, your application will become more attractive to potential host families.
Yeah, girl, who knows, maybe you pick up a new hobby such as biking!
Your Application Video:

You will be required to make a video which will be visible to the host family when they view your profile.
This video is your CHANCE to bedazzle a potential host family and make sure they know why they should choose you!
