Three Tips For Being A Super Au Pair

Super Au Pair Clarissa was an Au Pair in the Netherlands during COVID-19.

Although it was challenging to move around and explore, Clarissa made the best out of every situation.

This is the definition of being a CAP Au Pair.

During her time abroad, she showed perseverance, patience and humility – and managed to not take life too seriously even though she was mainly stuck at home amid COVID-19.

Clarissa decided that nothing will hold her back from exploring and immersing herself in the Dutch culture – and boy, oh boy – she did NOT disappoint.

She and her ”bakfiets” became best friends and together, they explored the scenic beauty of the Netherlands.

As an Au Pair abroad, there will be hardships & lonely times.

Here are three tips for when life as an Au Pair gets tough:

Breathe:

+

When you are going through a hard time, take time to breathe and reflect. It is very easy to make irrational decisions when we feel afraid, concerned, and worried.

Be sure to voice your concerns and fears, but also keep the bigger picture in mind, which brings us to the next point…

Remember why you came here:

It’s easy to forget ALL the good & positive aspects of your Au Pair journey when you are going through a hard time.

Don’t let that overshadow your whole experience, though.

Make a list of all those wonderful things that convinced you to become an Au Pair and pat yourself on the back for them.

Nobody said it was easy, but taking the first step is admirable.

Never forget that you have a whole Sisterhood standing right behind you, and we will not let go!

Remember, it will get better:

Did you know that every feeling you have is temporary?

Did you know that the negative emotions you are dealing with, will eventually go away?

YES!

You must be open to changing your attitude towards your situation.

Hold on to your passions, your hobbies, and anything to keep your mind off this feeling of helplessness.

Sooner or later, this situation will improve, and we can promise you, it’ll all be worth it!

We are proud of you, Clarissa!

Thank you for being a SUPER Au Pair & thank you for your beautiful birthday wishes to CAP!
