Au Pairing is about travelling, making friends and immersing yourself in a brand new culture, BUT it’s also dealing with tantrums, cultural differences, language barriers, and cleaning.

 

 

Some days will be harder than others.

 

It is life, right? 

(And life is not always easy!?)

 

#MYTH TWO:

I do all the housework, right? 

 

 

NO 

 

The extent of housework tasks included will depend on the family, the program contract & rules and the age of the children.

 

However, in all cases, an Au Pair is not a housemaid.

 

You are, rather, a member of the family and help out in the home as any family member does – your duties will be focused on childcare. 

 

Since the Au Pair programs are so regulated you cannot be abused in terms of working hours.

#MYTH THREE:

Once I leave South Africa or Namibia, I am all alone.
